It shows her survival, comeback, revenge on her boyfriend, and experiences on the way to fame. The accompanying music video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund and portrays Gaga as a doomed starlet, hounded by photographers, who is almost killed by her boyfriend (played by Alexander Skarsgård). It was also commercially successful, reaching top-ten positions in the music charts of Australia, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States and topping the charts in the Czech Republic, Germany and Scotland. "Paparazzi" was critically acclaimed for its "fun-filled" and club-friendly nature. " LoveGame" initially had been planned as the third single release in the UK, but when its lyrics and music video were deemed potentially controversial, it was decided that "Paparazzi" would be released instead. ![]() On July 6, 2009, it was released digitally in Ireland and the United Kingdom and four days later physically in Australia. The single was released on May 29, 2009, through the music video. The performance has been reacted to numerous times over the years, particularly on YouTube (examples shown below).Other covers use orange instead of pink color or depicts other music video scene. On August 10th, 2022, in the midst of the song's virality on TikTok, MTV published an animated tribute to the performance to YouTube, garnering over 23,000 views in a day (shown below). The majority of the videos make jokes about being someone's biggest fan and about the performance itself (examples shown below). One of the first videos to go viral using the sound was posted by TikToker on July 17th, 2022 and makes a joke about thinking the bleeding in the performance is real, garnering over 4 million views in a month (show below). In July 2022, TikTokers began using an audio clip of Gaga singing, "I'm your biggest fan I'll follow you until you love me," from the performance in lip dub videos, inspiring over 52,000 uses by early August. ![]() On September 10th, 2020, YouTuber Jremasters posted a 4k remaster of the performance, garnering over 615,000 views in two years (shown below). On August 21st, 2019, Billboard published an article about how Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift at that year's awards show drowned out how good Gaga's performance was Near the end of the performance, fake blood starts pouring down Gaga's body as she continues to perform (shown below). ![]() One of the songs she performed was "Paparazzi."
